    Baghdad today - Erbil
An informed political source revealed today, Sunday (June 23, 2024), that a regional decree will soon be issued to set a new date for the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections.
The source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, is scheduled to issue a new regional decree to determine the new date for the region's parliament elections after consulting with the Kurdish political forces and parties."
The source pointed out, "According to the data, the new election date for the Kurdistan Regional Parliament will be in the last quarter of this year."
It is noteworthy that since November 6, 2022, until today, the President of the Region has issued four regional decrees to set the date of the elections, but each time, for various reasons, the elections are postponed, and the new decree will be the fifth in two years, to hold the elections for the tenth session of the Regional Parliament.
The data began to provide sufficient atmosphere to postpone the Kurdistan elections instead of their scheduled date, which was scheduled for June 10 of this year, as the judicial body concerned with the elections decided that the procedures of the Independent High Electoral Commission were invalid and the need to provide 5 seats for minorities, while Parliament extended the life of the commission until the beginning of next year. This makes the political and legal atmosphere ready to postpone the Kurdistan elections, which will ensure the return of the Kurdistan Democratic Party to participate in the elections that it decided to boycott.
