, the spokesman for the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region announced, today, Wednesday, that the Presidency will soon set a new date for holding the region’s parliament elections.[/size]
[size=45]Dilshad Shihab said in a press conference that the President of the Region, Nechirvan Barzani, will soon announce a new date for holding the elections for the sixth session of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament.[/size]
[size=45]Shihab added that the Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq had a number of demands from the federal government, pointing out that Baghdad responded to all of those requests.[/size]
[size=45]Shehab confirmed that the Kurdistan Region Presidency is continuing its meetings with the High Elections Commission in Iraq and responding to all its demands, pointing out that a new date will be set in the near future to hold the elections for the sixth session of the Kurdistan Parliament.[/size]
[size=45]Last August, the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, issued a regional decree stipulating that elections for the Kurdistan Parliament be held in its sixth session on February 25, 2024.[/size]
[size=45]However, the Federal Election Commission requested that the date be postponed for technical reasons.[/size]
