Today, Monday, the Ministry of Planning announced a meeting of senior officials from the federal governments and the Kurdistan region regarding the management of border crossings.
A statement by the Ministry of Planning stated, “Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Planning Muhammad Ali Tamim chaired the second meeting of the joint ministerial committee, between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, concerned with developing appropriate mechanisms for managing border crossings in accordance with the constitution and the law.”
The statement added, "The meeting was attended by the Ministers of the Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, the Ministers of Housing and Construction, Bankin Rikani, the Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naeem Al-Aboudi, and the Minister of Justice, Khaled Shwani, while it was attended by the Ministers of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Ministers of the Interior, Reber Ahmed, and the Ministers of Finance, Awat Janab."
He pointed out, “During the meeting, the minutes of the previous meeting were discussed and agreed upon what was stated in the aforementioned minutes, related to reviewing the procedures for unifying customs policy at all border crossings (land, sea, and airports), and proposing the necessary decisions to implement what was stated in the ministerial curriculum in this regard.”
