Joint meeting to unify border crossing procedures

The Ministry of Planning revealed, yesterday, Monday, a meeting of senior officials from the federal government and the Kurdistan Region regarding the management of border crossings. A statement by the ministry stated that "the Minister of Planning chaired the second meeting of the joint ministerial committee between the federal government and the regional government, concerned with developing appropriate mechanisms for managing border crossings in accordance with the constitution and law. During the meeting, the minutes of the previous meeting were discussed and an agreement was reached on what was stated in the aforementioned minutes, related to reviewing the procedures for unifying customs policy at all border crossings (land, sea and airports), and proposing the necessary decisions to implement what was stated in the ministerial program in this regard." He added that "the meeting was attended by the Ministers of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, Housing and Reconstruction Benkin Rikani, Higher Education and Scientific Research Naeem Al-Aboudi, and Justice Khalid Shawani, while the Minister of Interior Reber Ahmed and Finance Awat Janab attended from the Kurdistan Regional Government."
