    Baghdad Today-Baghdad 
    The Ministry of Finance's expenditure accounts for the first five months of this year showed a 12% increase in total expenditures compared to last year, while the increase in salaries constituted the largest part of the increase in total expenditures.
    The Iraqi state's expenditures for the first five months of last year 2023 amounted to 37 trillion Iraqi dinars, while they rose for the same period of the current year 2024 to 41.5 trillion dinars, an increase of about 12%.
    Overall, the increase amounted to 4.5 trillion dinars this year compared to the same period last year, salaries were responsible for 4.4 trillion dinars of the increase, while all other expenses represented an increase of only 100 billion dinars or 0.1 trillion Iraqi dinars.
    Accordingly, salaries constituted 98% of the total increase in public expenditures, as they rose from 17.9 trillion dinars in the first five months of last year, to 22.3 trillion dinars in the first months of this year.
