    Economy News - Baghdad
The Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee confirmed, on Saturday, the study of 4 draft laws, one of which is related to births and deaths, while expressing its hope to legislate the law of human organ banks and explained its importance.

The head of the committee, Majid Shankali, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and reviewed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "the first amendment law to regulate the process of human organ transplantation has been legislated, and it is an important law that was voted on and sent to the Presidency of the Republic for ratification and sending it to the Official Gazette," stressing that "the law will enable kidney, liver, cornea and other organ transplant doctors to work without pressure."

Shankali explained that "in all countries there are organ banks for deceased donors, and after death, a match is made with the patient in need," noting that "the law will facilitate kidney transplant operations in Baghdad and the governorates, which are currently suspended due to doctors' fear of liability."

He added, "The law on human organ and tissue banks may see the light during the current parliamentary session, and we await the cooperation of the relevant authorities. We will work in the committee to consult with specialists and legal authorities to issue a solid law," stressing, "The committee is keen during this session to legislate important laws."

He continued, "During this session, the law on protection from the effects and harms of tobacco will be legislated, and there is also the law on birth and death registration offices, which will make a difference if legislated, as it will facilitate many matters for citizens; because there are many problems in birth and death certificates," noting that "the committee is also preparing the first amendment to the drug law, which will be one of the most important laws, in addition to another important law for the health and medical system, which is the fourth amendment to the medical progression law."
