Investing in the country's geographical location is a starting point for achieving sustainable development

Voices are rising calling for investing in Iraq’s geographical location, through which a real, sustainable economic development is created that enhances the country’s financial capabilities and preserves the rights of future generations. Iraq will be a real destination for global companies in all specializations, and thus we will create a global economic center that benefits the country and all companies present on its territory and achieves real integration with major global economies.
The head of the Iraq Development Fund, Mohammed Al-Najjar, said in a statement to “Al-Sabah”: Iraq’s geographical location is distinguished among the countries of the world and can be a starting point for the global economy between the East and West of the world, as Iraq enjoys a location that is considered the most important for many companies in the world specialized in specific industries whose production does not require a long time to transport the product, which makes them choose Iraq as a starting point for their industry.
He explained that the government is giving this issue the required attention, as it is a starting point for a new economic life that ensures putting the economic train on the track of development, and this is the first stage of the real construction of the national economy. He pointed out that the development path represents one of the most important projects to benefit from Iraq's geographical location and is complementary to the idea of the country being a global industrial and commercial center that serves the countries of the region and the world.
Member of the Baghdad Economic Forum, Jassim Al-Aradi, pointed out that the concerned authorities in the country are required to work on seriously investing in Iraq’s geographical location, which must be planned for today and be the focus of real attention, as this divine gift must be one of the government’s priorities and a real starting point for sustainable development.
He stressed the need to form a specialized working team from several parties linked to the highest authority whose mission is to communicate with specialized international companies and enter into negotiations with them to determine their work requirements and create an attractive environment for them, and agree on future work formulas and how they will be and in a way that achieves benefit for all parties without exception, and even be a starting point for a major development phase that serves Iraq and the countries of the region in general.
It is noteworthy that the economic expert, Faeq Abdul Rasoul, stressed the necessity of investing in Iraq’s geographical location on the world map by building a deep port and linking it to a railway network with other ports, pointing out the importance of working in this direction quickly and not slowing down.
Abdul Rasoul pointed out in a statement to (Al-Sabah) the importance of inviting specialized international companies to manage these ports and provide services at an international level to achieve economic feasibility, pointing out that global trade from Japan, India, China, Iran and other countries passes either through the Suez Canal to southern Europe or through the Cape of Good Hope, and this requires a long time, but through Iraq, the time and distance are shortened, and this leads international trade towards the country.
He explained that when investing in the country's geographical location, this leads to the creation of sustainable financial resources, as global trade will arrive via ships and their cargo will be transported via a train network implemented for this purpose to complete the transfer of global trade as quickly as possible between the two poles of the world.
