The Integrity Commission called on Transparency International to open a branch in Iraq today, Tuesday, attributing this to the country’s need for the organization’s reports on internal corruption cases.

The head of the commission, Haider Hanoun, said during his opening speech at the second Arab Forum for Promoting Transparency and Good Governance, which was attended by Sumaria News, that “the war on corruption is part of the commission’s tireless work, which faces great challenges and difficulties in this field,” indicating that “the battle against corruption is the responsibility of the citizen, the fourth authority, and societies of all nationalities and religions, considering that corruption and injustice are two sides of the same coin, and because corruption causes the spread of corruption, ignorance, and backwardness.”

Hanoun stressed that "the existence of the law and fair application are two essential pillars of reform, and we ask Transparency International to open a branch in Iraq because Iraq needs the organization's reports regarding corruption cases in Iraq," adding that "Iraq's achievements in fighting corruption are great and fruitful and cannot be summarized during this conference."
