MP Yasser Iskandar Watout confirmed, on Sunday, that Iraq has made significant strides in enhancing its defensive weapons stock.

"Iraq has developed a comprehensive strategy to redevelop the air force and air defense, despite the presence of many obstacles," Wattot told Al-Maalouma Agency.
He added, "There are many countries that have shown positive openness to Baghdad to provide weapons with advanced capabilities to enhance security and stability in Iraq."
He pointed out that "securing Iraq's skies, whether through air power or air defense, has a place in the country's national security strategy and perspective, because the majority of violations come through drones or unknown aircraft that enter Iraqi airspace from time to time."
He pointed out that "Iraq has the great capabilities and qualifications to defend its security and sovereignty and provide combat capabilities to confront any internal and external challenges."
It is noteworthy that the United States of America has obstructed Iraq's possession of advanced air defense systems for many years, due to an agenda to keep its capabilities weak in the face of violations coming from across the borders." End 25 F
