The Federal Integrity Commission announced, today, Saturday (October 12, 2024), the arrest of the director of Samawah Central Prison, red-handed committing the crime of bribery.
The Commission stated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "the Commission's investigation office team in Muthanna arrested the director of Samawah Central Prison for blackmailing a citizen and requesting a sum of money in exchange for not transferring his brother, who was sentenced, to another prison in one of the governorates."
She added that "the accused was caught red-handed while receiving the bribe money after setting up a tight ambush," noting that "the accused admitted to receiving the money as a gift from the citizen in exchange for not transferring his brother, who is in Samawah Central Prison and against whom a five-year prison sentence was issued by the Muthanna Criminal Court, to another prison outside the governorate."
The Authority continued, "A formal arrest report was prepared and presented, along with the accused and the criminal evidence, to the competent investigating judge, who in turn decided to detain him, based on the provisions of Article (308) of the Penal Code, after verifying his statements."
