    Economy News - Baghdad
Milterny website revealed, on Saturday, Iraq's intention to purchase 12 French Dassault Rafale fighter jets to enhance its air capabilities at a cost of $3.2 billion.
The Ukrainian website wrote, in a report followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "Iraq plans to purchase French Dassault Rafale fighters to enhance the country's air defense capabilities at a value of $ 3.2 billion," indicating that "the Iraqi Ministry of Defense is currently trying to get closer to the French defense industry by concluding major arms purchase contracts," noting that "among Iraq's plans is to purchase Rafale fighters, which will complement the newly formed air defense and control system, which consists mainly of French radar stations."
"Iraq plans to buy 12 Rafale fighter jets worth $3.2 billion, and the first $240 million has been paid as part of the down payment," he added, adding that "Baghdad is prepared to pay for the new Dassault fighter jets not with foreign currency, but with oil supplies to France."
The website pointed out that "Iraq has also submitted a request to purchase fixed radar stations from the French company Ground Master, which will allow the country to establish a central system for monitoring airspace," adding that "over the past two years, exports of French Rafale fighter jets have doubled, due to the high quality of the products and the favorable conditions offered by Dassault in cooperation with the French Ministry of Armed Forces."
