The media department of the Council of Representatives published the agenda of the Council's session next Sunday, which included voting on the draft law to return properties to their owners covered by some decisions of the dissolved Revolutionary Command Council, a proposal and draft of the general amnesty and personal status laws, and two other paragraphs.
In this regard, Karwan Yarois, rapporteur of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan parliamentary bloc, said: The Council of Representatives will resume its sessions after a three-week hiatus due to the Kurdistan Parliament elections, and according to the agenda, the Council will discuss the draft laws, the most important of which for the Kurds is the cancellation of some decisions of the Revolutionary Command Council, and the second is the general amnesty law
, which is of interest to the Sunnis, and the amendment of the personal status law adopted by the Shiite component. He added: Approving the law to cancel some decisions of the Revolutionary Command Council will contribute to the return of properties and lands to their owners and erase the effects of Arabization and displacement, and it is a striking and important project for the Kurds.
Karwan Yarois explained that placing these projects in one session is due to the lack of trust between the components and the fear of approving one of the laws without the other in different sessions, so the three projects were included in one session.
The rapporteur of the Patriotic Union bloc explained that the Patriotic Union made great efforts and visited parliamentary blocs and political parties in order to pass a bill to cancel the decisions of the Revolutionary Command Council, and all components will benefit from the approval of this law in the disputed areas.
Yarois stated: By approving this bill, more than one million dunams of land will be returned to their owners in Kirkuk and the disputed areas, and the problem that is renewed annually between the owners of these lands and those who encroached upon them by a decision of the banned Baath Party will end.
Kurdish and Turkmen farmers in Kirkuk and the disputed areas are awaiting the end of their problems related to the ownership of their agricultural lands that were confiscated by unjust decisions of the then-dissolved Revolutionary Command Council with the aim of bringing about demographic change and Arabization.
