The Ministry of Migration and Displacement attributed the suspension of the 1.5 million dinar grant among the displaced in the camps of the region since the beginning of this year until now to the lack of funding for it.

The official spokesman for the ministry, Ali Abbas Jahakir, said that there is currently no funding to distribute the 1.5 million dinar grant among the displaced in the camps of the region, pointing out that his ministry is seeking to allocate the amounts in the special grant for those who voluntarily return to their original areas of residence, as it has strengthened the desire for voluntary return among the displaced in the camps during the past years.

Jahakir attributed the suspension of the grant since the beginning of this year until now to the fact that the amounts allocated by the budget were limited to the national plan for voluntary return that was launched in early 2024, stressing his ministry's tireless efforts to include displaced families in programs to support returning displaced persons and those residing in the camps alike, according to the capabilities available to it regarding projects for the displaced to improve their living conditions.

Jahkir pointed out that there are official correspondences and demands to the concerned authorities to secure the amounts of the voluntary return grant of 1.5 million dinars, expressing his ministry’s hope that the amounts of the return grant will be allocated early next year, as this is linked to the budget allocations to be distributed among the returnees according to the entitlement of each family included in that.
