Lifting the ban on Iraqi ships next year

The Parliamentary Committee on Transport and Communications revealed that there are serious discussions with the International Maritime Organization to lift the maritime ban on Iraqi ships.
The head of the committee, Zahra Al-Bajari, explained to Al-Sabah that “the committee met with the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and requested all controls, instructions and procedures to be ready and implemented in the second meeting in October of the year (2025) to lift the maritime ban on Iraq.”
She considered "this ban an injustice to Iraq, as it is one of the founding countries of the organization." Al-Bajari added that "the committee has many laws related to maritime affairs, including amending the Maritime Authority Law, which was presented for the first reading, in addition to writing the report and discussion, and is now in the preparation phase for ratification."
