MP for the province of Basra Salim Chawki, said Thursday that more than 115 MPs have signed a request to grant the province 10% of its oil revenues, stressing that the conservative federal government asks for more than $ 15 billion.

He said Shawki in a press statement, "The House of Representatives discussed the request made by Basra and included the allocation of a percentage of not less than 10% of the oil production revenue to the province," adding that "more than 115 deputies signed this demand."

He noted that "the Presidency of the Parliament expressed its compatibility with the request of the Board of Basra to grant this percentage of revenue to local government and to include this requirement in the draft federal budget for the law coming in 2017," noting that "Basra is the federal government requires more than 14 billion and the government must repay" .

The head of the provincial council in Basra morning Albzona announced last September to send a formal letter to the Presidency of the Council of Representatives for the purpose of allocating 10% of the province's oil revenues to the Government of Basra.
