(International: Al Furat News) President Barham Salih said foreign fighters being prosecuted in Iraq may be sentenced to death.
"The Da'ash fighters will be tried according to Iraqi law and may be sentenced to death if convicted," Saleh said in an interview with the English-language newspaper The National in Abu Dhabi.
Saleh's comments are the first public confirmation that foreign defectors may face execution in Iraq.
The Joint Operations Command recently announced that the US-backed Syrian Democratic forces last month handed over some 280 Iraqis and foreigners from the United States.
Similar renditions are expected under an agreement to transport about 500 people held by these forces in Syria.
Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said Iraq would either help bring non-Iraqi members back to their countries or try those suspected of crimes against Iraq and Iraqis.
Under Iraqi law they may face the death penalty

Fallol has been "calling" foreigners, who have been arrested in Iraq and northern Syria, at the center of a major crisis, after their countries rejected their return as a hypocrisy to all, fearing its impact on the ideas and beliefs of others.

In February, the Iraqi authorities received 14 French gunmen in an organization [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] terrorist from Syria's democratic forces, which are launching an offensive to expel the terrorist organization from its last stronghold in eastern Syria.
