Secretary of State announced that Australian Julie Bishop on Sunday, her agreement with the Iraqi government to send about 200 members of the Australian special forces to Iraq to assist the army in the battle against al Daash. Bishop said in a press statement in the capital, it had reached Baghdad with Iraqi officials interviewed, the agreement allows for elements of the Australian Special Forces who are currently waiting in the United Arab Emirates, to enter Iraq. The minister pointed out in the Australian end of a visit to the Iraqi capital two days "reached an agreement on a framework that allows for the deployment of our troops here," pointing out that the mission of these forces "will advise and assist the Iraqi government in building the capabilities of the Iraqi security forces. The Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, which reached Baghdad last Saturday, said during a joint news conference with Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, "Not in our meeting asking to send ground troops to Iraq, but sent experts to provide advice and training to Iraqi forces."
With Jaafari said "the talks did not include the idea of bringing in or put ground troops."
The Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said last Wednesday that 200 soldiers from the special forces were sent to fight al Daash in Iraq did not enter the country because Baghdad has not provided them with adequate legal protection.
Abbott added that "Australian soldiers assigned to undertake the tasks of advising and assisting the Iraqi army still rest in the United Arab Emirates after it arrived in mid-September because it is not a formal agreement on their legal status."
The Australian Prime Minister that he was "confident that agreement will be reached, has made it clear to the Iraqi Prime Minister in New York two weeks ago, we are very keen to help."
