    Washington confirms its commitment to uphold the principles of press freedom in Iraq

    BAGHDAD - The US embassy in Iraq said on Wednesday that its government was committed to supporting the basic principles of a free and independent press around the world, including Iraq.
    On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, the embassy offered its condolences to Iraqi journalists and said it was a tribute to journalists who lost their lives while they were working.
    "Freedom of speech and expression is the cornerstone of democratic values.
