Dozens of Palestinians were injured Thursday in clashes with Israeli forces at the Hatta checkpoint and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported at least 40 injuries among Palestinians, including fractures and bruises as a result of the use of rubber bullets by Israeli forces and other injuries caused by pepper gas and sound bombs.
The clashes coincided with the entrance of worshipers to perform the Asr prayer at the mosque, after the lifting of the Israeli authorities all the security measures imposed by him.
Israeli forces stormed the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, fired gas and sound bombs, and used rubber bullets to confront the Palestinians.
Israeli forces dropped a Palestinian flag over the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Tens of thousands of Palestinians entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Thursday, for the first time in two weeks, to perform the Asr prayer, after Israeli security forces opened the gate of Hatta.
The director of the Al-Aqsa Mosque Omar al-Kiswani, confirmed earlier not to pray in the mosque before opening the door.
