Iran has dismantled a terrorist group linked to an al-Qaeda organization that planned to launch terrorist attacks against religious shrines
The official IRNA news agency reported on Monday that the competent authorities had carried out an operation to dismantle a terrorist cell linked to Da'ash, with the participation of officers from another country, and arrested 27 suspects who were planning attacks on religious sites in addition to trying to hide weapons in home appliances.
She explained that the officers of the Ministry of Intelligence managed to arrest a terrorist group linked to the organization tried to carry out terrorist operations in religious cities, pointing out that "the terrorists were trying to bring weapons and ammunition to the country by hiding in the home appliances."
The authorities "arrested 10 people in the leadership of the group abroad and 17 inside Iran," and said that "five of the 17 accused were to carry out attacks in Iran with the support of the remaining 12."
Tehran has not identified the religious sites it said were targeted.
