Shafaq News/ The first airline between Najaf and Dammam, Saudi Arabia, was officially opened today, Saturday.
Shafaq News Agency correspondent said that the first Saudi plane arrived today from Dammam to Najaf Airport, noting that the plane was received by government officials, including the Governor of Najaf and the Saudi ambassador to Baghdad.

He stated that the trip will be weekly and according to changes in demand, pointing out that its goal is primarily tourism.
The trip was preceded by a visit by the Saudi Ambassador to Iraq, Abdulaziz Al-Shammari, to Najaf yesterday, Friday, where he met the governor, toured the markets, and visited the shrine of Imam Ali.

In turn, the Governor of Najaf stressed the need to expand the scope of air services between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, enhancing economic and tourism connectivity.

Youssef Makki Knawi said, during the celebration held by the national company “NAS” on the occasion of operating the first flights of the Saudi Flynas company from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam to Najaf Airport, that “the first flights carry within them a lot of meanings,” pointing out that “the flight from... Dammam to Najaf is not just an ordinary flight, but rather a journey of communication and rapprochement between the Saudi and Iraqi peoples.”
