Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, on Friday, directed the Parliamentary Finance Committee to expedite the final review of all items of the budget law schedules of 2024, sent by the government.
A statement by the Information Office of the Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives received by the Iraq News-said that "Al-Mandalawi stressed the need to complete the vote on these schedules during the next session, especially if it affects the need of the citizen significantly," stressing "the appointment of next Monday's session as a date for its approval."
Al-Mandalawi called on "the Finance Committee to review a final and accurate review of all the schedules of revenues, expenditures and allocations, determine the deficit rates and ways to reduce them and prepare the comprehensive report that will be submitted to the House of Representatives for a vote, including all the observations that accompanied the 2023 budget."

Monday is the day set for the budget to have been through the final review. The review sounds like they have it to be a serious and comprehensive one. I wonder if they are all going to get a surprise when they see the totality of their revenues in comparison to the past? They are likely to have increased by a very significant amount that includes other than oil income!
