The Ministry of Electricity summarized the most prominent recommendations and directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, during his visit to the ministry’s headquarters, yesterday, Thursday, and while it confirmed the existence of continuous support with powers and financial allocations, it indicated the existence of a second package of projects to remove bottlenecks in energy networks after the first package, which included opening And operating 200 stations.
Ministry spokesman Ahmed Moussa said, “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani continues his daily and field supervision and follow-up of the electricity file and the implementation of the plan that the ministry started early to keep pace with peak summer loads and high temperatures,” noting that “the prime minister, during his visit to the ministry’s headquarters, directed “Closed Circuit Television is our staff to open and operate nearly 200 stations.”
Moussa added, “48 of this number of transformer stations are sufficient to achieve reliable capacity, availability, and flexibility for the electrical network, especially in maneuvering loads between energy-producing governorates,” noting, “These stations, along with power transformers and the expansion and development of transmission lines, will secure a large portion of the projects.” Urgent action to relieve bottlenecks and keep up with peak summer loads, in addition to operating 52 secondary stations today, with their feeders and transformers with the capacity to address major bottlenecks in some regions and governorates within the first package to remove bottlenecks.”
He continued, “The Ministry also has a second package of projects to remove bottlenecks in energy networks, and this will secure the Ministry’s plan, which was working to achieve stability of supply.”
He pointed out, “The Ministry’s plan requires adding generating capacity, developing the technical map for the transportation sector, rehabilitating distribution networks, developing feeders, and installing stations in load centers,” explaining, “The first part of the plan requires stability of supply, good supply hours, and achieving stability in electricity supply.” Ensuring no recurring interruptions, while the other part required increasing processing hours.”
He stressed, “The opening and operation of 200 stations by the Prime Minister will ensure high reliability, good capacity and availability, and will also solve a large part of the bottleneck problems that the governorates and some regions were suffering from.”
Moussa explained, “The Prime Minister stressed a number of points, the first of which is the declaration of full alert during the summer period to confront the peak of high loads and temperatures, as well as careful follow-ups and monitoring of a technical map and urgent projects to keep pace with the need for demand, holding those who are negligent accountable, and addressing citizens’ problems and solving them urgently.”
He stated, “The Prime Minister, during the visit, indicated ending the problems of rehabilitating the network and reducing disruptions, given that the government has provided powers, funds, allocations, and decisions for the benefit of electricity, and therefore, in the part of its rapid plan that coincides with the summer, it is assumed that it will be ready.”
Moussa pointed out that “the production system, making transmission lines available, and addressing bottlenecks in the distribution sector will address part of the shortage that requires strategic projects, and these projects are included in the ministry’s plan, as work has begun on their implementation, in addition to the Prime Minister’s ongoing follow-up with electricity to support us with powers and allocations.” Within a plan that will be implemented over two to three years.”
Regarding the appointment of standards readers, Moussa explained, “The Ministry worked to include them in the budget that was submitted to the Council of Ministers, in addition to approving the financial allocation and pledging to add job grades to them since they met all the conditions for appointment.
