{Local: Al-Furat News} Travelers asked the House of Representatives to pressure the Central Bank of Iraq to allow them to be given dollars from government banks, similar to what the latter does by selling dollars to pilgrims only.
A number of travelers confirmed via {Al-Furat News} that, “Government banks refuse to sell the dollar to them, and the issue is limited only to pilgrims.”
They demanded that "they be included in purchasing the dollar at the official rate instead of resorting to the black market to secure it."
The Central Bank of Iraq directed exchange companies to include pilgrims by selling the dollar at the official rate of 1,320 dinars from the allocation for travelers, provided that the share of one pilgrim does not exceed 3,000 dollars.
The Central Bank identified outlets for selling the dollar to Iraqi pilgrims through the branches of the Rafidain, Al-Rashid, and Iraqi Trade Banks and the Al-Nasik Bank in its main branch.
