Rahim Al-Maliki wrote: “The recent traffic fines are not realistic, the working hours instructions are not logical, and raising the price of gasoline is unfair to the poor and is a negative treatment for oil smuggling.” It is not acceptable for citizens to pay the price for the government's handling of smuggling. If the decisions are in the interest of the nation, then the citizen is more important than the nation.”
Iraqi citizens, especially the poor, face new challenges with the issuance of a set of recent government decisions. These decisions, although justified, caused widespread dissatisfaction among residents whose wounds are still bleeding from years of misfortune, poverty, and killing in the streets.
It seems that the government has become a tax collector that is depleting the hard-earned savings of the poor. People are old and have become desperate for the future and frustrated with promises, after they bid farewell to summer, spring, and fall, and nothing remains for them but winter.
The Iraqi government has recently taken measures aimed at improving the economic situation and combating smuggling and corruption, but these measures are raising widespread dissatisfaction among citizens, especially the most vulnerable groups.
The value of traffic fines was raised with the aim of improving traffic discipline and reducing accidents, but many citizens consider them unrealistic and increase the financial burden on them.
    Working hours instructions
: The government issued new working hours instructions, which are seen as illogical and causing confusion in the daily lives of employees and workers in various sectors, which increases the pressure on the people who already suffer from difficult living conditions.

    Raising the price of gasoline
The step to raise the price of gasoline comes as an attempt to combat oil smuggling, but this policy burdens the poor who depend on private and public transportation in their daily lives. This step raises questions about the fairness of holding ordinary citizens responsible for addressing smuggling issues that the government is unable to solve in other ways.

    The general situation:
Iraq suffers from the consequences of long years of wars, economic sanctions, and political instability. Daily life is characterized by many economic and social difficulties and problems, as many citizens live below the poverty line and struggle to meet their basic needs.

Under these circumstances, the Iraqi citizen feels frustrated and despaired by repeated promises to improve conditions. The people need immediate and tangible solutions to ease their living burdens, instead of decisions that increase their suffering. It is time for the government to put the interests of the poor citizen at its top priority, to restore hope for a better future.
