Iraq and the Vatican are working to form a joint committee to bring the peoples of the Islamic and Christian faiths together to contribute to "promoting world peace."

Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari met with Paul Richard Gallagher, the foreign minister of the Vatican. The two sides discussed enhancing cooperation between the two countries, the overall security and political situation in Iraq and the great victories achieved by the Iraqis in their war against the organization. Cheers.

The Vatican's foreign minister stressed that the Vatican stood by Iraq in its war against terrorism, noting that "the next phase will witness the visit of the Vatican's Prime Minister to Baghdad, and support cooperation, coordination and to prepare for the visit of the Pope to Iraq."

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to form a joint committee to bring the people of the Islamic and Christian faiths closer together to contribute to the promotion of world peace, the statement said.

For his part, al-Jaafari said that "terrorist gangs committed the most heinous crimes against the Iraqi people," pointing out that "terrorism today targets everyone, and does not distinguish between a continent, a country, a city, a religion, a sect, Because he is an enemy of all humanity, "calling on the Vatican Foreign Minister to visit Iraq in the framework of promoting cooperation in various fields.
