    The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced the agreement with Turkey to increase the volume of water releases to Iraq. While appreciating Turkey's position in postponing the work of the Turkish Ilso dam until June, the Turkish Foreign Ministry revealed its intention to reopen its consulate in Basra, Bashika. 

    The Foreign Ministry said in a press statement that Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari received his Turkish counterpart Mouloud Javishoglu in Baghdad to discuss bilateral relations and ways to elevate them to meet the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.

     
    Al-Jaafari stressed Iraq's keenness to establish the best relations between Baghdad and Ankara and to make diplomatic efforts to overcome the challenges facing the region and cooperation in the economic field and raise the volume of investments between the two countries. Because its health threatens the lives of man, animal, plant, land and civilization of Iraq. 

    "We stressed the need to postpone the work in the Aliso dam, as agreed by the Iraqi Minister of Resources with his Turkish counterpart, and we stressed the need to raise the water level from 60 cubic meters per second to 90 cubic meters," he added, "We focused on the need for Turkey to stand by us After the victory over a supporter to contribute to the strengthening of Iraq's unity, in addition to the importance of exchanging information to confront terrorism. "

    "We stressed the importance of Turkish investment in Iraq to strengthen relations between them, the need for the withdrawal of Turkish troops from the region of Bashika, as well as the importance of increasing cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector to ensure the resumption of export of crude oil through Turkey as soon as possible." 

    For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Mouloud Gawishoglu said that "Turkey will be one of the leading countries to support Iraq and reconstruction, and will continue to stand by all our potentials, and maintain the unity of the Iraqi territory and integrity and respect for sovereignty." 

    He pointed out that his country will participate "in the donor conference to be held in Kuwait and will have an active role in it, especially as Turkey is the current session of the Islamic Cooperation Council, and will make more efforts to mobilize international support for Iraq,

    "We promised to freeze the work of Aliso dam until June, we will increase the volume of water releases from 60 cubic meters per second to 90, and we will not offer any action detrimental to the interests of Iraq," he said, noting that "we will increase the number of Turkish companies operating in Iraq, and we look forward to holding a meeting of the Supreme Council for strategic cooperation between the two countries, and activate the work and cooperation in the field of energy, agriculture and livestock, as well as cooperation in the field of border control and increase border ports between the two countries. 

    "We will take a decision on the withdrawal of Turkish troops from Baasika in cooperation with the Iraqi government and will not accept the holding of meetings on Turkish territory that harm the interests of Iraq," adding that "his country will work to reopen the Turkish consulate in Basra"

    "We have supported the dialogue between Baghdad and Erbil and are ready to facilitate the success of their dialogue, The volume of trade exchange between the two countries and we want to increase it as we discussed holding the fourth meeting of the Supreme Cooperation Council between the two countries as soon as possible and the holding of the joint economic meeting in February next.
