    German press reported on Tuesday that the German Embassy in Baghdad had lodged a formal protest with the Iraqi Foreign Ministry over the execution of the German da'is, Lamia K.
     
    The reports said that "the German government was completely surprised by the death penalty, and it was counted for decisions of imprisonment only issued by the Iraqi judiciary."

The German Foreign Ministry issued an official request to the German government to hand over the German women to Germany after prison sentences were handed down.
