Parliament allows preparatory campaign to run for elections

The House of Representatives voted in its Sunday session on the second amendment to the law of elections of the House of Representatives, which allows the holders of the preparatory certificate to enter the parliament.
The new amendment ensures that 10 percent of the members of the next House of Representatives are holders of a preparatory certificate or equivalent.
The House of Representatives voted in January last year on the law of the elections of the House of Representatives, which included the requirement to possess the candidate a bachelor's degree, or equivalent to run for parliamentary elections.
Iraq is due to witness parliamentary elections next May.
