[ltr]The Iraqi Grain Trade Company announced more than 300,000 tons of local wheat since the beginning of the current season.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The purchase rates were slow at first, but the pace is accelerating and we have more than 300,000 tons," said Naim al-Makusi, the company's director.[/ltr]
[ltr]In statements to Reuters, Al-Makassousi pointed to the Iraqi Ministry of Trade's expectations of producing 3.7 million tonnes of domestic wheat during the current season.[/ltr]
[ltr]Earlier, al-Makassusi expected to produce at least 2.5 million tonnes of domestic wheat in the 2018 season.[/ltr]
[ltr]At the end of March, Iraq set the price for local wheat for the 2018 season.[/ltr]
[ltr]Last April, the Iraqi Grain Trade Company, part of the Ministry of Commerce, prevented the import of imported or localized wheat from any proportion during the marketing season of 2018.[/ltr]
