Salah al-Obeidi, a spokesman for Sadr's leader Moqtada al-Sadr, said: "Sadr strongly opposes any foreign influence in Iraq, especially Iranian influence."
Al-Obeidi said in a press statement: "Qasim Soleimani will not stop trying to use his influence, and the Iraqis to stop it."
"We are trying to form a new kind of government. We have the outline of this program and we want to discuss it with other parties on how to achieve a full program," he said.
"While former governments have chosen a prime minister and a cabinet based on party loyalty and quotas, a new government must be formed first in agreeing on a reform program and gathering a cabinet of qualified people to run the government," the spokesman said.
On the position of the coalition of the rule of law led by Nuri al-Maliki, al-Obeidi said: "Maliki is responsible for many of the disasters that happened in Iraq, so it is difficult to accept."
