Parliamentary Elections: The amendment of the Elections Law allows the continuation of the work of the Parliament and not its extension

The head of the parliamentary legal committee Mohsen al-Saadoun said on Monday that the fourth amendment to the law of parliamentary elections aims to not put Iraq in a constitutional vacuum, and allows the continuation of the work of parliament and not extend it.
Saadoun said in a press statement that "the fourth amendment to the law of the elections of the Council of Representatives No. 45 of 2013, will be (continued) the work of the House of Representatives, not (extended) work, until the completion of the process of counting and sorting and the ratification of the Federal Court on the election results."
Al-Saadoun pointed out that "the diligence of the parliament to make a fourth amendment to the election law and put the word (continuation) work of the Council, came in order not to be the current government caretaker government, and in order to be a control of the House of Representatives to the government, constitutional".
He explained that "there is another paragraph in the amendment related to clarify the decision of the Federal Court on the process of counting and sorting, and this will be voted in the session next Thursday."
The House of Representatives ended its session on Sunday under the chairmanship of Salim al-Jubouri discuss the proposed amendment to the Fourth Law of the elections of the House of Representatives No. 45 of 2013.
