The Grand Mufti of the Republic of Iraq, Sheikh Mahdi al-Sumaidaie, on Friday condemned the celebration of New Year's Day, while criticizing the delay in completing the federal government, strongly criticized the visit of US President Donald Trump to Iraq.
"Until now, we have not formed the Iraqi government because of the differences between the political components of the Shiites, the Sunnis, the Kurds and, of course, Trump and others," Sumaidaie said at Friday prayers at the Umm al-Tabul mosque in Baghdad.
"We are the people of Iraq, we plead to God Almighty to visit Trump and we have no opinion and no consent," he said, adding that "this visit does not affect us and there is no scratch in our history, and Trump enters the case of crows, dogs, cats, pigs and animals."
The Grand Mufti of the Republic concluded his speech by saying, "Do not share the Christians with Chrismas because this means that you believe in the doctrine of the Trinity."
