Parliamentary proposal to allocate monthly funds to Iraqi children

MP Yousra Rajab, a member of the parliamentary Human Rights Committee on the International Children's Day, stressed that the situation of Iraq's children is worrisome and unfit for its resources and potentials, warning that it has prepared a parliamentary proposal to allocate a monthly grant to each Iraqi child in order to ensure his health, education and development properly and correctly.
"As the world celebrates the child's birthday, children in Iraq are living in a worrying and insecure situation compared to other children in the developed world," Rajab said in an official statement.
"The world celebrates the children's day at a time when Iraq has the largest number of orphans, displaced children, homeless, beggars and dropouts," she said.
"The situation of Iraqi children is painful and unacceptable and does not correspond to their wealth, history and potential," she stressed. "We must move to save our children from this painful reality."
"Iraq has witnessed many incidents of domestic violence that have led to the death of innocent children, who have no fault except that they were born by the fatherless father of humanity," she said.
"It prepared a parliamentary proposal to give children monthly stipends that guarantee the minimum level of food, education and treatment to ensure a decent life for them and to encourage their families to complete their studies and prevent their application," the parliament said.
Rajab also demanded that "the House of Representatives to accelerate the vote on the law on domestic violence to protect children from abuse and accountability of their relatives."
