Moscow and Beijing call for avoiding any steps that undermine the two-state solution in the Middle East

Russia and China have called on all parties involved in the Palestinian cause to refrain from any steps that undermine the two-state solution.
"The two sides intend to support the establishment of an independent, viable and sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital," said a joint communique issued after talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Moscow on Wednesday.
Moscow and Beijing called on "all parties concerned to avoid any steps that undermine the two-state solution" and reaffirmed their determination to "contribute to the resumption of negotiations as soon as possible in order to achieve a comprehensive, just and long-term settlement of the Middle East issue through political and diplomatic means, Including the relevant United Nations resolutions, the Madrid Principles and the Arab Peace Initiative. "
This comes against the background of the United States' preparations to announce its plan for a settlement in the Middle East known as the "Century Deal". US presidential adviser Jared Kouchner declined to say whether the "deal of the century" depended on a two-state solution
