Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) On Monday, the National Reform Trend, led by Ibrahim al-Jaafari said that the National Iraqi Alliance did not agree on a candidate for the premiership, noting that the State of Law Coalition wants to nominate Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, while the Sadrists and the Supreme Council refuse to nominate al-Maliki.

A spokesman for the National Reform Trend, Ahmed Jamal said in an interview for IraqiNews.com that “the National Iraqi Alliance is the largest parliamentary bloc, which has 180 seats out of 328 seats. It wants to swiftly form a new government but has not decided upon a nomination as of yet.”

Jamal added that “the State of Law Coalition wants to nominate Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. The Sadrists and the Supreme Council are against the renewal of al-Maliki and prefer to nominate their own party’s candidates.
