Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi stressed his determination to provide a decent life and tranquillity to the citizens, noting his keenness to preserve the achievements achieved.
This comes at a time when congratulatory messages and congratulations from leaders and officials of neighbouring countries and the world on the occasion of the iraqi government's confidence in the parliament in the session held at dawn on Thursday.
A statement from the prime minister's office, received by al-Sabah, said that "the ceremony was held at the government palace on Thursday evening, the ceremony of receipt and handover of responsibility and ministerial portfolios in the presence of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, the outgoing prime minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, and the ministers in the two governments."
"We swore to protect this country, provide reassurance to the citizens and send them a message that this government will work to provide a decent way of life," al-Kadhimi said, adding that he was "keen to preserve the achievements achieved and cooperate to meet the security, economic and health challenges facing the country."
For his part, Abdul Mahdi reiterated his congratulations on the formation of the new government headed by Al-Kadhimi, stressing the importance of peaceful transfer of power as a democratic manifestation and despite all the complexities known in the political scene, praising the selection of competent figures for the new cabinet.
In addition, Al-Kadhimi received a congratulatory message from His Highness the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah, and while The Hashemite King of Jordan, His Majesty King Abdullah bin Al Hussein, congratulated the prime minister on the occasion of his government's confidence in the House of Representatives, al-Kadhimi received another phone call from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who congratulated him on the formation of the new government.
