    {Economy: Al Furat News} The Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, announced, on Saturday, the formation of a joint steering committee to activate the memorandum of understanding signed between Iraq and Egypt.

    A statement of his office, a copy of which Al-Furat News received, stated that "on the sidelines of the first Baghdad International Water Conference, Al-Hamdani held a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Muhammad Abdel-Maati," expressing his "happiness with the effective Egyptian participation in the conference." 
    Al-Hamdani said, "This meeting aims to develop ways of cooperation between the two countries in the water resources sector and to benefit from the Egyptian experience in this field in addition to forming a joint steering committee to activate the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries and exchange experiences in a way that serves the development of this important sector."
     He explained, "The Republic of Iraq supports the Arab Republic of Egypt in its efforts to obtain its water rights." 
    For his part, the Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation expressed his country's readiness to develop means of cooperation between the two countries.
