Al-Kazemi said during the meeting that "the opportunity is ripe today to improve economic and trade relations between the two countries, and the need to invest this opportunity," noting "the existence of a political will in support of this in Iraq and Saudi Arabia."
And he stated that "good strides have been made towards laying the right basis for economic and commercial relations between the two countries," citing "the opening of the Arar border crossing after nearly 30 years of its closure, the activation of the coordination council between the two parties, work on electrical interconnection, and the expansion of Saudi investments in Iraq in the fields of energy."
