{Baghdad: Al Furat News} The Irbil Agriculture Directorate is coordinating with the competent authorities in Baghdad to raise the production and marketing of poultry products and stop importing them from abroad in light of the remarkable rise in the prices of live poultry and eggs in the local market.

At the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Agriculture decided to prevent the import of poultry cuts in light of the abundance of the local product, and called on all border outlets, the Operations Command, National Security, the Department of Organized Crime Control and Customs to abide by the implementation of this decision in support of protecting the local product.
The Director of Irbil Agriculture, Hayman Murad, said in a press interview, "There is cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture to market local products for livestock manufactured in Erbil with high quality."
He pointed out that "the possibility of relying on local poultry production by 100 percent without the need to import, which prompted the Ministry of Agriculture to stop importing poultry products and to maximize local production for rotation between provinces."
In Karbala, the second deputy of the Governor of Al-Mayali said, "The local government greatly supports the national product and increases its production, but not at the expense of the poor classes, as the price of one kilogram of chicken rose to four thousand and 500 dinars in the local markets and this coincided with the rise of foodstuffs." Other fruits. "
The Parliamentary Economic Committee had previously warned of the rise in chicken prices after the Ministry of Agriculture banned their import, and indicated that this decision is supposed to be issued after studying and scheduling according to the market need if the local product covers the need or not.
Al-Mayali added, "We have not found the real reasons that made the prices rise so far, so a meeting was held with the directorates of Agriculture and Combating Organized Crime, the Karbala Operations Command, the Poultry Breeders Association and the Veterinary Hospital to discuss this matter and put in place a mechanism to limit the price hike."
There are 68 poultry projects in Karbala, including 53 projects for meat poultry, seven projects for the production of table eggs and eight projects for hatching eggs. The marketing volume during March reached one million and 148 thousand chickens, with a total weight of more than one thousand and 952 tons.
In turn, the Director of Karbala Agriculture, Engineer Razzaq Al-Taie, said, "These quantities of eggs and chickens exceed the local market needs, which made the Ministry of Agriculture issue a decision banning the import of live and slaughtered chickens and whole chicken segments from outside the country."
He stressed that "the Ministry of Agriculture supported poultry farmers with subsidized feed, vaccines and veterinary expertise, in addition to protecting them from competition from foreign products."
