    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

Despite government optimism for a relatively "quiet" summer in terms of the possibility of supplying electricity and raising production capacity, indications indicate the opposite, starting from poor equipment during the past days in many Iraqi regions and governorates.
The Ministry of Electricity suggested last March that its production of electricity would reach about 22 thousand megawatts, at a time when Iraq's production last year reached 19 thousand megawatts, as the ministry is betting on raising production by introducing new generating stations to service.
Amid this optimism and moves to introduce new stations to work, the ministry did not clarify the type of fuel that these stations will work on and whether they will also be gas stations at a time when Iraq suffers from a shortage in the quantities of gas produced, as well as the shortage of gas supplies from Iran, which decreased from 50 million meters. Cubic meters to 5 million cubic meters during the past months, before Iran returned to raise gas supplies to only 22 million cubic meters, about half of the actual need that was imported by Iraq.

Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar confirms in press statements that Iraq cannot dispense with Iranian gas before 2024, while the Parliamentary Oil and Energy Committee believes that Iraq is unable to fill the electricity shortage with domestic production 5 years ago.

Committee member Sadiq Al-Sulaiti said, in a press statement, that "Iraq suffers from a lack of energy in the country by more than 12 thousand megawatts," stressing that "Iraq will not be able to fill this shortage with domestic production during the next five years, due to the lack of the necessary allocations that enable the establishment of the stations." electrical".

He stressed "the importance of the electrical connection with the Gulf and Turkey, so that Iraq is a hub for communication between the Gulf states and Europe," expressing his "regret that these two projects are going in slow steps, and the government was supposed to speed up linking these two systems because of the benefit for Iraq."

He explained that "the difference in peak times between Iraq and the northern regions represented by Turkey and Europe, enables us to become a corridor for the export of energy from hot summer regions towards Turkey, which has a temperate climate and transferring it to other countries."

The deputy pointed out that "Iraq consumes 13 thousand megawatts from the investment stations in the winter, while the available is about 19 thousand megawatts, which forces him to extinguish about 5 thousand megawatts and leave them from work in this season."

He pointed out that "the committee stressed the need to legislate the oil and gas law during the next few stage, but it needs to complete the vote on the law of the national oil company," indicating that "the oil law has been completed and reached the stage of voting, but the work will not be done after voting until after the vote." Approval of the company law, because there are paragraphs linked to each other in the two laws.
