, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Blashart, said on Wednesday that the approval of a constitution in the Kurdistan region of Iraq will be a factor of strength for the whole country.
"The federal system is the system in our hands now, and all components should benefit from it," Blashart said during the launch of the (Unity and Constitution) conference in Erbil.
She added, "We see that there is a good development in the region to face all the problems that the region suffers from."
Plasschaert pointed out that "the need requires that there be a strong Kurdistan, not at the level of Iraq, but at the level of the region as a whole, and this is not achieved overnight when we talk about democracy. Rather, it is a long process and needs dialogue with all parties."
The UN representative stressed the need for "the leadership of the region to find solutions to all immediate and long-term problems."
