[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / - Iraq participated in the second Islamic Summit for Science and Technology, which is organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and whose current session is chaired by the United Arab Emirates, with the participation of heads of state and government, ministers, and representatives of international organizations.
The representative of Iraq, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Science and Technology, Nabil Kazem Abdel-Saheb, said at the summit held under the slogan (Science, Technology and Innovation: Opening New Horizons) in his speech via video communication technology that “the speed with which technology is advancing and the widening of the digital divide requires everyone to adopt methods and methods.” New developments in the field of education, a review of priorities, and a drafting line for arranging, formulating and amending policies responsible for supporting research and development, stimulating meaningful scientific publishing, and providing an appropriate environment for innovation and patent registration.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Higher Education, the minister affirmed Iraq’s commitment to the principles and objectives stipulated in the charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its program for science, technology and innovation, which extends until the year two thousand and twenty-six, in a way that contributes to developing sustainable development and achieving a sustainable knowledge economy through scientific investments, modernizing educational curricula, incubating and sponsoring Young people and stimulating their potentials towards innovation.”
He added that “the Republic of Iraq, with its important scientific capabilities, is represented by its scientists and researchers in various disciplines who are distributed in more than a hundred public and private universities and more than fifty-eight centers for advanced research looking to bridge the scientific relationship and enhance the space for partnership with institutions.” scientific and technological.
He called for a comprehensive roadmap for technology transfer between member states, cooperation with the General Secretariat and international partners, and the development of academic and research cooperation mechanisms between educational institutions through the exchange of faculty members and researchers, the provision of scholarships for students, and the organization of a ministerial-level forum for energy that cherishes ways of interoperability of energy technology. Renewable energy and the development of a digital map commensurate with the Fourth Industrial Revolution and smart systems.” He
concluded his speech by saying: It is time for Islamic countries to work to absorb the rapid growth of knowledge, build an integrated system for scientific research, create centers for technology transfer and localization, and build an electronic portal for research cooperation in various sciences, patents and benefit. of the scientific capabilities of Islamic countries, facilitating the movement of researchers and receiving them in scientific research centers and universities, and establishing a fund to finance research with high scientific returns.
At the end of the conference, the representatives of the countries voted on the joint statement of the summit, which affirmed that all necessary measures were taken to create and activate an environment conducive to achieving progress in the field of science, technology and innovation in the OIC member states.[/rtl]
