The media office of the President of the Republic said in a statement that "Nass" received a copy of it (June 20, 2021), that "during the meeting, they discussed relations between Iraq and the United Nations Population Fund, through the relevant ministries and government institutions, and the importance of developing and strengthening them with regard to population development."
The President of the Republic stressed that "the country has faced the challenge of terrorism and the resulting internal displacement crises, and social and demographic consequences, pointing to the importance of providing support to the displaced who are still in displacement camps and seeking for their voluntary return to guarantee a decent life and an adequate living situation."
He pointed out "the importance of developing a population policy that achieves the sustainable development goals, based on the population, especially the youth, who constitute the largest proportion of the population, and represents an important workforce that should be utilized and provided with opportunities to engage in the labor market, pointing at the same time to the need to support women and stop cases of violence." to which they are subjected and to guarantee their full rights.”
