    The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, and the Director of the United Nations Population Fund in the Arab States region stressed the necessity of cooperation to make the population census process successful in Iraq.[/size]
    [size=45]Today, Thursday (June 13, 2024), Masrour Barzani received the Regional Director of the United Nations Population Fund in the Arab States region, Laila Bakr, according to a statement reported by the Kurdistan Regional Government media.[/size]
    [size=45]During the meeting, the two sides discussed the work, projects and activities implemented by the United Nations Population Fund in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, especially in the areas of development and development of the necessary capabilities and skills in conducting census and census, according to the statement.[/size]
    [size=45]The meeting witnessed a mutual emphasis on “the necessity of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the relevant authorities in the Kurdistan Regional Government, the federal government, and the United Nations Population Fund, to ensure the success of the population census process in a fair manner that serves the goals of population development, away from any political goals.”[/size]
    [size=45]The general population census in Iraq is scheduled to be conducted during the month of November of this year.[/size]
    [size=45]Last Friday (May 31, 2024), the Iraqi Ministry of Planning announced the start of the experimental population census in the governorates of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.[/size]
    [size=45]The experimental census is being carried out in 86 localities distributed over 18 governorates, with 46 rural localities and 40 urban localities.[/size]
    [size=45]About 764 researchers, technicians and administrators from the Statistics Authority and its supporters are participating in implementing the census.[/size]
    [size=45]Iraqi governments have tried to conduct a general population census since 2009, but political differences have prevented this.[/size]
    [size=45]According to estimates by the Ministry of Planning, the population of Iraq will reach 51 million 211 thousand and 700 people in 2030.[/size]
    [size=45]The general population census was conducted in Iraq in 1927, 1934, 1947, 1957, 1965, and 1977, and the latter did not include the governorates of the Kurdistan Region.[/size]
