Mr. Ammar al-Hakim: It is not acceptable to have a large percentage of the people below the poverty line

{Political: Al Furat News} The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Mr. Ammar al-Hakim, stressed the need to take urgent steps to combat poverty in Iraq.
Ammar Al-Hakim said in a statement on the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty: "The escalating statistics globally, which indicate a frightening rise in the poverty rate, not especially after the spread of the Corona epidemic, put the international community and its humanitarian organizations in front of a great responsibility to confront this scourge and save millions of people from its clutches."
He added, "In Iraq, a country of good deeds, it is not acceptable to have a large percentage of our people below the poverty line, which requires urgent practical steps to improve living standards, create job opportunities, provide health care and social protection measures."
