{Economic: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Commerce announced that it is preparing to distribute the third meal of the food basket in the coming days, "stressing that it will include all materials and from the best global and national origins, in a step towards supporting food prices and providing citizens with basic materials."
The Ministry of Commerce said in a statement, "After the overwhelming success in distributing the first and second meals, the ministry has completed preparations for distributing the third meal to the covered citizens, and the new meal includes all basic materials and from the best international origins, so that the Iraqi citizen with limited income can enjoy materials such as those that the rich buy from the markets." .
She added, "The materials that are distributed to citizens in the food basket are among the best available in the market, and we conducted many questionnaires by the supervisory teams and the teams of the Financial and Commercial Control Department. The ministry has also allocated a set of hot numbers and an electronic section to follow up on citizens' complaints and deal with them as soon as possible, according to the directives of Minister of Commerce Alaa Al-Jubouri.
She pointed out, "The ration card file has exhausted governments over the past years, due to suspicions of corruption in the contracts signed by general managers and bogus deals, as the materials that reach the citizens were often poor, but trade and under the instructions of the Prime Minister worked during the last period." To end the file that was one of the doors to corruption, namely the ration card, and started successful steps by distributing the food basket items."
The Commerce pointed to the steps to reform the food basket system and stated, "The ration card file was a concern of governments and also everyone talks about it and that there is poor quality in the materials distributed to citizens, and after many proposals, studies and directives from the higher authorities, the ministry started procedures to contract with sober media outlets according to the instructions." The controls and the transfer of these materials as soon as possible to the governorates and agents for distribution to citizens, with continuous field tours to agents and warehouses to follow up the distribution mechanisms and reveal obstacles and shortcomings, so there is a reform in this file and there are steps that the Ministry is working on to distribute more vocabulary.
She explained, "The Ministry of Commerce was seen as a failure, but today it is seen as successful, because it succeeded in the food basket file and also in providing food security for citizens, and this matter we succeeded."
And Commerce indicated, "The reform was not limited to the food basket, but the ministry and the Financial and Commercial Control Department worked to audit all contracts and contracts that have suspicions of corruption and referred them to integrity and the judiciary, and this is part of the reform plan in the ministry that we are currently working on and continuing."
Regarding the possibility of increasing the food basket, the trade clarified, "The financial allocations are for six months, and it is up to the next government and the next parliament to increase the allocations of the food basket. Our ambition is that it be distributed for a period of 12 months instead of six months, and the ball is now in the court of the next government."
