Yesterday, Saturday, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, revealed that the Kingdom's total imports of Iraqi oil during the past four months amounted to about 1.195 million barrels, at a rate of 9800 barrels per day.
He said in a press statement yesterday, that the Kingdom's imports of Iraqi oil for the month of December amounted to 309.7 thousand barrels, at a daily rate of approximately 9,989 barrels per day.
He explained that the total quantities of Iraqi crude oil supplied to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from the first of September 2021 until the 28th of last December amounted to 1,194,734 barrels, which were transported by 4,679 Iraqi and Jordanian tankers from the site (Al-Siniya/Baiji station) to the site of the Jordan Petroleum Refinery. blue.
The process of importing Iraqi crude oil comes in implementation of the memorandum of understanding for the supply of crude oil signed between the government of the Republic of Iraq and the government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on 28/1/2021, and according to the memorandum that came into effect at the beginning of September of the same year, the Jordanian side purchases Iraqi crude oil (oil Kirkuk crude) to meet part of its annual oil needs, and not more than 10 thousand barrels per day (15%) based on the monthly average of Brent crude oil minus 16 dollars per barrel, in order to cover the quality difference and transportation fees.
According to this memorandum, the Jordanian side is obligated to provide tankers for transporting Iraqi crude oil in the Baiji region in Iraq to the Jordanian Petroleum Refinery in Zarqa/Jordan. The tanks are distributed equally between the Jordanian and Iraqi companies.
