Earth News/ The Head of the New Generation Movement in the House of Representatives, Sarwa Abdel Wahed, revealed today, Saturday, the nomination of her personal bloc for the position of the Presidency of the Republic, stressing that the goal of the nomination came to break the monopoly of positions.
Abdul Wahed said, in a statement received by Earth News, that "the nomination of a person by the Alliance for the People and the New Generation Movement for the position of President of the Republic is for the purpose of demonstrating the movement of the new generation of Iraqis that the position of President is not the preserve of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union, but that there are new forces that see It is an alternative to the two parties and works for the future,” she said, adding, “Even if she is certain that her candidate will not win this position, she will continue her position so that she does not become part of these two ruling parties in the Kurdistan region.”
She added, "Therefore, the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union do not like this step, and they wished that the Alliance for the People, which has 28 parliamentary seats, would vote for their candidate," noting that "there are other parties, forces, personalities and representatives outside the two parties who do not like this step or do not understand it because these and since their presence They were part of the Patriotic Union or the Kurdistan Democratic Party, or they were part of the agenda of a party of the ruling party, and at no time did they have a vision of their own and a special and independent decision-maker.
And she continued, "So, until now, they do not understand that running for this position is more in order not to clear the scene for the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union than to obtain the position and participate in the government."
Abdel Wahed indicated, "Nominating and electing a person to a position is proof of your independence and not being a part or appendix of a party and another party, and it has no effect on the opposition's approach to the movement of the new generation and the Alliance for the People, which with confidence that during the next four years it will become an effective opposition within the Council." The Iraqi parliament is expected to reach 40 seats in the Iraqi parliament.
