    [size=45]Officials of the World Health  Organization's regional office for the Eastern Mediterranean said today, Wednesday, that the countries of the Middle East witnessed an acceleration in the rate of infections with the Corona virus in the past six weeks due to the decline in vaccination rates.[/size]
    [size=45]The WHO regional director for the region  , Ahmed Al-Mandhari, said the daily average of reported COVID-19 cases had risen to 110,000 in the past six weeks, while the average daily death toll had risen to 345 in the past three weeks.[/size]
    [size=45]More than 35 percent of the region's population has been fully vaccinated. However, Rana Al-Hajjah, Director of Programs Department at the Organization's Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, said that a quarter of the countries in the region have not yet reached the ten percent of immunization coverage.[/size]
    [size=45]The Eastern Mediterranean region covered by the WHO Regional Office includes the Middle  East, Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Djibouti and Afghanistan among others.[/size]
